Hagi Boutros (43) is busy preparing his new lunchroom for the grand opening of Rebelse Broodjes in early February at the Almelo train station.
For Hagi, venturing into the hospitality industry is a new field. Despite owning two metal businesses in Hengelo, a grinder and chroming shop, his passion has always been to run a sandwich shop. The opportunity to establish Rebelse Broodjes in Almelo came through a friend, Aret Asik, who pointed out the vacant space at the train station.
Rebelse Broodjes will offer a variety of options including coffee, freshly made sandwiches, poké bowls, snacks, donuts, waffles, salads, smoothies, fruit cups, pastries, iced coffee, ice cream, and slush. Hagi plans to expand the menu as the business grows.
The new lunchroom will inherit the same layout as its predecessor, Coffee Central. While maintaining the existing design, Hagi will rebrand the space with Rebelse Broodjes' identity through window decals. Keeping in line with the historical significance of the building, minimal alterations are allowed to the exterior.
Rebelse Broodjes will welcome customers in Almelo on weekdays from 07:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:00. Hagi emphasizes the importance of early opening hours to cater to commuters seeking a quick bite and a quality cup of coffee.
